House Cleaning in Kala Point & Cape George

Two quiet communities, a similar kind of work: long-running regular cleaning for people who’d rather have one person they trust than a rotating crew.

Why these two share a page

Kala Point sits on Port Townsend Bay between me and Port Townsend. Cape George is out the other side, toward Discovery Bay. Geographically they aren’t close to each other at all.

But as places to clean they have almost everything in common: planned residential communities with their own associations and common facilities, a largely settled and largely retired population, well-kept homes, and owners who want the same person coming regularly rather than whoever a company sends. What I do in one, I do in the other.

Trust is the whole thing

In communities like these, most of my clients aren’t home when I clean, and a good number of them travel for weeks at a time. That means I hold keys or codes, I let myself in, and I’m in the house alone.

Which is exactly why the one-person thing matters more here than anywhere else I work. When you give me a key, you know precisely who has it: me. Not a company key safe, not whichever cleaner was rostered on, not a new starter you’ve never met. The same person every visit, who learns your home and notices when something isn’t as it should be.

Several of my clients here have also asked me to keep an eye on the place while they’re away — bring the mail in, check nothing has leaked, air the rooms. I’m glad to. It’s a small thing and it’s why keyholding works.

The work itself

Predominantly regular cleaning, most often fortnightly, in homes that are already well looked after. This is maintenance rather than rescue: bathrooms and kitchen properly done, floors, dusting throughout, and the heavier jobs that get harder to do yourself as the years go on.

The pattern here is longevity. Regular clients in Kala Point and Cape George tend to stay for years, on the same day at the same time, and that suits me perfectly — a schedule I can rely on is worth as much to me as it is to you.

Deep cleans come up seasonally, and before family visits. There’s also a steady amount of work preparing homes for sale, and clearing them afterwards, which happens more in communities where people eventually downsize.

Practical notes

Both communities have gates, entry procedures or signed-in access arrangements of one kind or another. Tell me how yours works when we set things up — a code, a pass, a call to the gate — and I’ll follow it properly every time, including letting the office know in advance if that’s what’s expected.

Kala Point is about ten minutes from me and Cape George nearer twenty, since the road goes around rather than across. Both are comfortably within my normal working area.
