Regular House Cleaning
The every-week or every-other-week clean that keeps a home from ever getting away from you. Most of my clients are on this, and most have been for a while.
Who it’s for
Regular cleaning suits people who have decided they’d rather spend Saturday morning doing something other than the bathrooms. Working households where nobody has the hour. Retired couples who’d like the heavy work taken off them but still potter happily in the garden. Second-home owners in Kala Point or Port Ludlow who want the place looking after between visits.
It is the least dramatic service I offer and by far the most useful. Nothing ever builds up, so no visit is ever a battle, and the house stays at a level you’d be happy for someone to drop in on.
How often
Every two weeks is what most people land on. It’s frequent enough that the house never slides, and spaced enough that it doesn’t feel extravagant.
Weekly makes sense for busier houses — children, several pets, people working from home, or anyone who simply likes it properly kept.
Monthly works for smaller or quieter homes, and for people who keep on top of the day-to-day themselves but want the deeper jobs handled. Do bear in mind a monthly visit takes longer than a fortnightly one, because four weeks of dust is genuinely more work than two.
Starting with a deep clean
Almost every new client starts with one deep clean, then moves onto a regular schedule. It isn’t an upsell — it’s that a regular visit is priced and timed to maintain a standard, and I can’t maintain one that hasn’t been set yet. Once the baseline is there, the regular visits keep it, and they stay short and predictable.
What the first visit is like
The first time is always a bit longer and a bit more conversational than the ones that follow. I’ll walk round with you at the start so you can point out anything particular — the surface that marks, the room that’s off limits, the thing you’d really rather was done properly every time.
After that I generally work top to bottom and back to front, so I’m not walking dirt back across floors I’ve already done. By the second or third visit I’ve learned the house and the whole thing gets quicker and quieter. You stop needing to leave notes.
Getting the most out of it
The single biggest thing: clear surfaces get cleaned properly, cluttered ones get cleaned around. I’m not going to move your things about and reorganise them — that’s not my call — so a worktop with the post, the keys and yesterday’s mugs on it can only be wiped in the gaps. Ten minutes of putting things away before I arrive buys you a noticeably better clean.
The other thing worth saying: tell me when something isn’t right. If you’d rather I spent less time on the spare room and more on the kitchen, or you didn’t like a product, say so. I’d far rather adjust than have you quietly put up with it and drift off in six months.
What it costs
Regular cleaning is quoted per visit, based on the size of the home, how many bathrooms there are, and what kind of state it tends to be in between visits. Homes on a weekly schedule cost less per visit than the same home monthly, because there’s less to do.
Quotes are free and there’s no obligation. Typical per-visit figures are on the pricing page. I’ll come and look at the place, tell you honestly what I think it needs, and give you a figure. No contract, no minimum term — if it isn’t working, you say so.
A few practical things
You don’t have to be home
Most of my regular clients aren’t. We’ll agree access that suits you — a key, a lockbox, a code. I’m the only person who’ll ever use it.
Same day, same slot
Regular clients get a fixed day and rough time, and it stays yours. If I ever need to move it I’ll tell you well ahead.
Supplies included
I bring everything. If you’d prefer your own products — a stone worktop, a septic system, allergies, a scent you can’t stand — just leave them out.
Pets are fine
Dogs and cats are no trouble and I’d rather they stayed out than got shut away. Just tell me the rules — who bolts for the door, who isn’t allowed upstairs.
